My story

From the classroom to the counselling room

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with over 25 years in Vancouver schools — first as a classroom, resource, and arts teacher, and now as a school counsellor and private practitioner. That foundation shapes everything I do.

My arts background — a B.A. in Ethnomusicology and an M.Ed. in Arts Education (SFU) — is woven into my practice. Training in art therapy, drama therapy, and Developmental Transformations (DvT) deepens my use of creative modalities, especially with children who express best through images, movement, or play rather than words.

I am passionate about neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care — and I bring genuine curiosity and warmth to every person I work with.

My philosophy

What I believe

Every person carries inherent strengths and wisdom. My role is not to fix, but to accompany — to help you find your own footing, in your own time, in your own way.

Safety comes first. I draw on a wide range of evidence-based frameworks and adapt them to the whole person in front of me — their culture, neurology, history, and life.

🌱

Strengths-Based

We build on what is already working — your resilience, your relationships, your resources.

🫶

Trauma-Informed

Understanding how past experiences shape present responses — always with compassion, never blame.

🎨

Creative & Expressive

Play, art, music, and movement as pathways to insight — especially for children.

🌏

Culturally Responsive

Honouring each family's unique background, values, language, and lived experience.

🔬

Neurodiversity-Affirming

Supporting ASD, ADHD, giftedness, and PDA profiles with understanding, not pathology.
